Dentality @ Hoddesdon - Hygiene Therapy

Gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss in the world and is also the one of most prevalent disease in the world. Dental hygienists work as part of the dental team and give advice and treatment to help ensure that you maintain good oral hygiene, a healthy mouth and gums. It is important to maintain good oral hygiene as this can help prevent gum disease and discolouration of teeth from plaque build-up.

At Dentality, our hygienist is qualified to take impressions, place temporary dressings, give Fresh breath advice, perform Stain removal treatments using air abrasion,  provide Scale and polish treatment , treat and maintain periodontal conditions, assess for periodontal and gum disease as well as offer smoking cessation advice and support.

When you visit the hygienist at Dentality, they will assess your gums and teeth, checking for any swelling or inflammation and for any bleeding. The hygienist will then carefully remove the plaque and calculus (tartar) above and below the gum line which will help you to keep your teeth clean, maintain the health of your gums and prevent progression of any underlying disease.

If you have advanced gum disease or periodontal disease you may require root debridement or root planning so deep tartar can be removed from the root surfaces of your teeth. Ask your hygienist about the latest HELBO technology in the treatment of Periodontal Disease.

Visiting the hygienist regularly will reduce your chances of developing gum disease, periodontal disease and decay and from needing long term dental treatment. Good oral hygiene also involves brushing your teeth twice a day for two to three minutes at a time, flossing your teeth regularly, using toothpaste that contains fluoride, not smoking and visiting your dentist regularly.

Our hygiene costs start from £40 for 30mins.
