A bridge is a fixed dental restoration (prosthesis) used to replace a missing tooth (or teeth) by joining an artificial tooth to the adjacent teeth. Bridges are only possible if you have enough strong teeth with good bone support. Your dentist will help you decide which is the best way of replacing missing teeth. There usually needs to be a healthy and stable tooth on either side of the space, although in some cases a single tooth can be used to support a bridge.
Though less popular now compared to Dental Implants, bridges are a viable option for the replacement of missing teeth.
Bridges are usually made of porcelain bonded to precious metal. Sometimes, there are other non-precious metals used in the base for strength. There are also new bridges made entirely of a special type of strong porcelain or Ceramic.
There are several types of bridges available though each type of bridge can have applications for different clinical situations. At Dentality, we only use dental laboratory technicians who are registered with the General Dental Council.
Ask your dentist for more information if you think this may be an option you wish to consider.
