Dentures are removable false teeth made of acrylic or metal which are used to replace gaps left by missing teeth. These gaps can cause problems with speaking, eating and with self-confidence. Dentures can help all of these problems and especially with confidence as they can help improve the appearance of your smile. Dentures can be partial or full (complete) dentures depending on whether you need all your upper/ lower teeth or just a few teeth replacing.
Your dentist will initially take measurements and impressions (moulds) of your mouth. A trial denture will be created from the impressions and these will be used to assess the fit of the denture. Once the fit is correct for you, a final denture will be produced.
It is advisable to remove your dentures at night as this gives time for your gum tissues to recover and reduces the risk of fungal infection. When removed, they should be kept in a moist environment – for example, in water to stop the denture material from drying out and changing shape.
It is also important to clean you dentures daily as plaque and tartar can build up on false teeth, just as they do on natural teeth. At Dentality we offer a comprehensive range of dentures and only used dental technicians registered with the General Dental Council. We offer Flexible Dentures, Acrylic Dentures and Cobalt Chromium (Metal) Dentures.
The most common complaint of all denture wearers is that their dentures are loose. If you have loose dentures, why not speak to one of our dentists about implant retained dentures
