Dentality @ Hoddesdon - Skin Rejuvenation

As our skin ages due to sun exposure and decreased production of collage we may start to develop sun spots, diffuse redness and uneven pigmentation. The treatment we offer for sun damage is a clinically proven, safe and effective treatment of sun-damaged which includes both vascular and pigmented areas.

Skin rejuvenation is a quick and simple treatment that does not interfere with your normal daily routine. It can be used to treat any area and the most commonly treated areas include the face, neck, chest and hands. It can help skin look smoother by removing age spots, diffuse redness and other uneven pigmentation. It will also help you to keep a younger, fresher look and many women report that it becomes easier to apply makeup as skin texture may also be improved.

How does the Skin Rejuvenation treatment work?

A thin layer of gel (similar to ultrasound gel) is applied to your skin before treatment to make the treatment more effective and more comfortable. A hand held applicator is held against the skin and a controlled pulse of light is delivered.

The treatment works by a technique is called Selective Photothermolysis. This consists of directing controlled pulses of light into the upper skin layer. The light is absorbed by two of the body's own natural substances – melanin (colour) in the pigmented areas and haemoglobin in the red blood cells in the red areas.

Both these pigments convert the light energy into heat. The resulting heat reaction is used to destroy the parts of the cells in which the melanin is stored and damage the walls of the vessels supplying blood to the red areas. Treatment is most effective if your skin is less tanned as the contrast between the age spots/blood vessels and background colour of the skin is greater, making treatment easier. A full-face treatment can take up to 30 minutes. Typically clients require up to 3 treatments to achieve the full effect.
